The expertise and technological innovations developed over Australia’s 20 year water reform journey are in high demand internationally and globally recognised. There exist many commonalities between the reforms that Australia has emerged from and the reforms now commencing in many countries overseas. Delivering micro economic reforms and managing the impacts to the water sector from a changing climate is central to these common challenges and a focus of the Australian Water Association’s International Program at Ozwater’17.
The purpose of the Association’s International Program is to ensure that the expertise and experience of our members and the wider Australian water sector are profiled and positioned to play a key role internationally. Through the Association’s domestic and international relationships we are supporting the Australian water sector to facilitate opportunities by bringing international delegations to Australia to meet with you. If you or your business has an interest in exporting your capabilities overseas then the Ozwater’17 International program is your chance to get involved.
Meet the Asian delegation at Ozwater’17
Asian countries are not just growing, but are changing profoundly. Australia’s economic prosperity will be critically dependant our relationship with Asia. Servicing the expanding population of Asia with safe and secure water will require continued major capital expenditure and technological innovation. Investment needs are significant compared with the existing local revenue base and new sources of revenue and technology are being sought. Many Asian countries are transitioning towards a market based water sector and looking to Australia to learn from our experiences and innovations.
The International contingent at Ozwater’17 looks to be the biggest yet with inbound delegations attending from Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, America, New Zealand and the Philippines.
The Australian Water Association’s International Program at Ozwater’17 provides an opportunity to:
- Hear from leaders of the Australian and International water sectors on challenges and opportunities across the Indo-Pacific region
- Get involved in business to business matching with international public and private sector water agencies
- Witness the Memorandum of Understanding singing between the Association and Korea Water and Wastewater works Association (KWWA) and meet leaders from KWWA during afternoon tea of Day 1
- Witness the twinning signing ceremony and meet the Australian and Vietnam twinning partners involved in the twinning program during lunch on Day 1
- Nominate your booth to be part of the international delegate tour of the exhibition
- Meet international leaders during the happy hour drinks
As part of this broader set of activities, the Association and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are facilitating a delegation of 60 Vietnam water professionals to Ozwater'17 to participate in a tailored program of site tours, workshops, social events and business introductions. The Ozwater – Vietnam Program is your chance to meet with Vietnam public and private sector water leaders prior to the Australian delegation to Vietwater17 – Vietnam’s largest water conference and exhibition to be held 6 – 10 November. For further information on last year’s Australian delegation to Vietwater see this outcome report.
