Thiess’ construction business recently completed the Victorian Desalination Project. It is one of the biggest infrastructure initiatives in Victoria’s history and incorporates a reverse osmosis desalination plant, water transfer pipeline, power supply, marine tunnels and structures, a significant living green roof and a new 225-hectare ecological reserve.

Employing a ‘One Thiess’ approach, we involved our services’ business early on so that they could influence the design process to optimise ongoing infrastructure management. The Degremont-Thiess Joint Venture is now providing operations and maintenance services for the remainder of the 28-year project term.

Members provide water and sewage services to over 16 million Australians. They also provide services to many of Australia’s largest industries and commercial enterprises.

As the peak body representing the nation’s urban water industry, WSAA acts on behalf of all members, providing a strong, national voice for the sector and taking a leading role in influencing urban water policy development.
